Tesla Station Installations

Tesla is the most valuable automotive manufacturer in the world, valued at $690 billion, and is the world’s largest EV manufacturer, capturing 65 percent of the EV market in 2022. Tesla models such as the Model Y and Model 3 are two of their most notable models, with the Model Y being the world’s best-selling car in Q1 2023. In addition, Tesla manufactures their own chargers and operates one of the largest fast-charging networks in the world, with over 45,000 publicly available level 3 chargers, known as Superchargers. Tesla has partnered with roadside convenience stores, such as Sheetz, making their Supercharger network increasingly accessible throughout Maryland and Virginia. In addition to the Supercharger, Tesla’s level 2 wall connector, compatible with Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles, is a popular choice for home charging. Tesla also develops solar energy systems

Tesla Wall Connector

The Wall Connector is Tesla’s home charger, compatible with the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y. A  J1772 Wall Connector can also be purchased and used for both Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles, although, Tesla vehicles will need the SAE J1772 charging adapter. The Wall Connector allows you to efficiently charge your vehicle at home and comes with several advantages compared to other chargers.

  •   Charging Speed/Efficiency
    • The Tesla Wall Connector provides the fastest level 2 charging for Tesla vehicles, with a maximum power output of 11.5kW. The Wall Connector requires a dedicated hardwired circuit. The power of your circuit depends on your vehicle’s acceptance rate, but for the fastest charging speeds, you will generally need a 240-volt high-power, 60-amp dedicated circuit. This is typically routed from the main service panel. It is important to have an experienced, licensed technician install the Wall Connector. At  Effortless Electric, we have the expertise to properly install the Wall Connector that ensures its efficiency, longevity, and overall quality.
  • Hardwired Only
  • Up to 48 amp output
  • 24′ cord
  • Adjustable Amperage
    • The Tesla Wall Connector comes equipped with adjustable power levels and is compatible with a range of circuit breakers. Therefore, your panel load capacity will not be a limiting factor when installing a Wall Charger. This also allows you to install a circuit breaker that matches the acceptance rate of your vehicle, allowing for the fastest charging.
  • Load Sharing
    • Unlike other EV chargers, Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connectors can share power from a single electrical circuit with up to six other Wall Connectors to charge multiple vehicles at once. One wall connector will be considered the leader and controls how much electrical current each charger receives so that charge time can be minimized for each vehicle. The connection between the chargers is done through Wi-Fi. If you have plans to install several wall connectors, only one dedicated electrical circuit is necessary. However, we recommend installing a higher amperage circuit breaker (around 100 amps) to maximize the amount of power distributed to each vehicle.
